"Power couples" have been around since the days of Antony and Cleopatra. Such couples manage to accomplish great things individually while maintaining strong relationships as well.

From Wall Street to Hollywood, these "power couples" have conquered the world. These great relationships, past and present, have stood the test of time.

Bill & Melinda Gates

Bill Gates is a name known around the world. The co-founder of Microsoft and developer of the world's most popular personal computers has amassed billions of dollars over the past few decades. Along with his wife Melinda, who was once a Microsoft employee herself, Bill now works full-time as a chairperson for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Both Bill and Melinda have re-dedicated their lives to improving education, healthcare, and wellness around the globe. The pair manages to take care of their three children while simultaneously supporting causes in Africa, Asia, and other impoverished regions all across the world. This couple practices what they preach, too; both Bill and Melinda have traveled to tuberculosis wards, AIDS clinics, and remote villages simply to assist those in need.

The Gates' have already given away a jaw-dropping $30 billion to charitable causes since starting their foundation in 2000. Their passion for charity, as well as for each other, makes them a couple truly worth admiring.

Nick Offerman & Megan Mullally

If you're a fan of Parks & Recreation, you may known Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally as down-to-earth "Ron Swanson" and conniving ex-wife "Tammy Two," respectively. In real-life, however, this couple is hardly at odds! The comic duo met while performing in a play together 15 years ago. They married in 2003, and have been inseparable ever since.

Mullally has had a successful career as an actress, famously playing Karen Walker on the long-running sitcom Will & Grace. She's also found success as a singer, performing with her band "Nancy and Beth." Offerman, who became a fan favorite on Parks & Recreation, even went on tour with Mullally during her band's performances.

The age gap in this couple's relationship is somewhat unique, as Mullally is a full 12 years older than her husband. Despite the pair's differences, however, their relationship shows no signs of wavering. It seems that nothing can stand in the way of this charming, comedic couple.

Christiane Amanpour & James Rubin

Christiane Amanpour and her husband James Rubin are a powerful and intellectual pair! Though many individuals may recognize Amanpour from her eponymous news program Amanpour on CNN, few may realize that she's actually the channel's Chief International Correspondent, too.

James Rubin has earned success in his own right as well. Rubin began his career as the Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs for the U.S. State Department in the late 1990's. Under the Clinton administration, Rubin was considered a particularly important figure, assisting Secretary Madeleine Albright and acting as the State Department's Chief Spokesman. Though he has since left the world of politics, he has kept busy as a journalist, writer, and scholar for a number of well-known publications, including Bloomberg News.

Though their lives have often been hectic, this influential couple has found a way to maintain a happy marriage. After years of travelling between the U.S. and England, the couple and their son have finally settled down in London. This power couple, however, shows no signs of slowing down. Rubin and Amanpour will certainly continue to make waves in journalism for years to come.

Marie & Pierre Curie

Marie Skłodowska-Curie and Pierre Curie were both pioneering leaders in physics and chemistry. Together, they were perhaps the most successful scientific couple in history.

As an expert researcher in magnetism and piezoelectricity, Pierre Curie was an accomplished scientist in his own right. His studies even earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1903. Pierre's "chemistry" with Marie was ignited by her own passions for scientific research. The couple fell in love after Marie began working in Pierre's laboratory. Though Marie initially refused Pierre's hand in marriage, the pair’s love for each other ultimately won out. The couple wed in 1895.

Together, this incredible couple researched radioactivity, a phenomenon which they themselves named. Their collaborations ultimately led to the discovery of new elements, including radium and polonium. Sadly, Pierre died of a tragic accident at the age of 46. Marie never remarried. Marie and Pierre's passion for research could only be outshone by their love for one another.

These individuals prove that great partnerships can foster incredible successes for couples. Whether you're single, dating, or married, these couples' love and accomplishments are encouraging. Pursue your passions just like these inspiring individuals did; love just might find you, too!
