Some may have a private pension from work, some may have other pension, here in Canada we get both CCP and OAP (benefits/pensions) which help us in some ways and Alberta has Senior benefits to help with the rising cost of living.
Those who have a private pensions from work or else where, they most likely have to pay tax on it, most of them save their private pension for tax time and what ever is left over, they spend it on something, like celebrating or traveling. Just my thoughts.

In order to qualify for Alberta Senior benefits, you have to live in Alberta for 10 years. The same with Canada's pensions, you must live in Canada for 10 years.
