This is the place to discuss the ‘dating game‘ or ‘dating reality", falling in love the second time again, what ‘romance" means to you and why some great friendships never meant to be a ‘relationship".

Their profile usually states that they are in construction, and are widowed, with children. Profiles are stolen and adapted, and letters of interest are very much the same...often repetitive, and then the bad grammar begins...with the sob stories of accidents and travel to foreign countries on contracts. These people are usually based in Amsterdam, London, (I saw a BBC documentary on it!), and are originally from Nigeria, Cameroon, etc; though they won't admit it of course. Beware...they are now into newspaper adverts too, selling purebred/pedegree pets.

Thanks for the 'heads up'.So that's why my dog didn't arrive yet. When I was married a friend boughl me a fleece shirt/sweater? that had a sad looking man siting at a bar on it.On top it said "My wife ran away with my best friend" at the bottom it said,"Boy do I miss him".She said it reminded her of me(it's my kind of humour).God bless

Also they will ask you to leave the site farily fast and chat elsewhere, like Yahoo chat or MSN Messenger.  There is a Yahoo group called Romance Scams that is very good for information on scammers.

If that happens, please let the club know. Although we detect and delete most scammers, some get through the net.

Its not just on line you meet scammers, I met someone a few months ago at a social meeting and he was a scammer that caused me to have a mini breakdown. Here is my story.
He said he was divorced and had had a terrible time with his X wife who cheated on him. He said he gave her the house and everything and thats why he lived in a very run down little flat which he rented.I went to his flat and he had next to nothing. So me being me(soft hearted) got things to brighten it up including a nice seccond had sofa.He drove a nice expensive sports car, which he said was all he had left from the marrige. It dident look right parked outside his place, with beer cans and rubbish scatterd around. It used to take me ages to get to his door stepping over it all.
He said he traveld to london to work on the buildings every day, I never saw him weekends as he was visiting his disabiled son in birmingham. He told me he loved me up tp 20 times a day by text, and was forever asking me to marry him. When he asked me if he could move in with me I had to say No, as I was not ready he started to put the preasure on.I stood firm and said I wanted to think about it. He was very understanding about my m.e. he said that if I wanted to get a wheelchair he would love to push me round. When he text me to say he was going away forever(hinting he was going to end it all)I was worried. He gave his flat up and said he was driving out to a remote place. After 3 days being out of my mind with worry I rang the police who read his texts he sent me, and said they would try find him to make sure he was ok.4 days later they contacted me to say they had found him and he was "safe" they had knocked on a door in slough nr london and he was sat down eating dinner with his wife...
