I, too have 4-legged "children". When I bought my house in 2002, the ink was barely dry on the paperwork when I took my daughter out to adopt a dog from the shelter. She was bewitched by an old codger beagle who stood on his hind legs and gave her the most adorable sad-eyed look. His name was Eddie and he died of cancer two years later. He loved potroast and "singing" the Star Spangled Banner! On that same trip to the shelter, a shaking, frightened Bichon named Spiffy ended up "adopting me". She's quite a mother/hall monitor! She is nurturing but expects the other dogs to follow proper rules at all times! In 2002 we adopted two sibling "mutts" as puppies, named Wilbur and Charlotte. They are Sheltie, Golden Retriever, Cocker Spaniel and Chow mixes. Wow! Wilbur is quite the kisser and Charlotte likes to talk. That's their Golden Retriever and Sheltie (repectively) showing! I still call them my puppies...how humiliating at their ages!

My dog was Dinah, a border collie.
She was loving with people, and licking with kids.
Dinah learned to play ball and frisbee, and was a bit shy around the swimming pool and our fast flowing river. She loved to lap cool river water.

As a puppy, Dinah followed me, and this continued as an adult dog.

She enjoyed chasing squirrels and deer away. Dinah was a born herder. When she was a puppy she would growl low, and eye 1 tonne cattle, and force them to move. Later she realized this was risky and preferred thatI move cattle for her. Yes, she was always training me.

Border collies typically live to 14 or so. Dinah weighed 25 kilos (60 lbs) in 2009 October and the vet said she was a bit overweight. In December she was diagnosed with incurable colon cancer. In March she weighed 12 kilos (25 lbs), and her legs were shrinking and she wouldn't/couldn't eat and I put her down. I miss her, Dinah.

Hi everyone, and especially luvpekes who began the thread. I don't have pekes, but raised/ showed Keeshonds for almost 20 yrs. I am now down to my last 2.5, and dreading the time when they are all gone.
I have 2 elderly Kees left , and the daughter of the oldest lives with me much of the time and thinks she belongs!

All animals are wonderful, but we gain a special understanding with our canine friends. Mine have a twisted sense of fun, and too much intelligence for my comfort. They haven't been easy to train, but most have been willing to compromise - I tell them twice as much as I want, and they do half of it and are pleased that they aren't being totally subservient! The end result is we are all happy, except for "outsiders" who just don't understand!

I have a Cavalier King Charles called Lindi, runs away and hide when you say walk, always scrounging food and totally spoilt, Spend all night lay beside me or on my wifes lap, a great companion. Always had Cavs and always will. hope to have two or three when i retrire.

I am the proud "pet parent" of my beloved beagle / springer spanel cross who turned 10 this past March. He was a 9-1/2 week-old puppy when I brought him home, and he has been my constant companion since. (I just MELT when I stare into his soulful brown eyes!)

I too love dogs. I was raised with puppies and have never been without a dog most of my life. My sheltie Missy was 13 when we finally had to put her down as she had cancer in her back end and it was causing her to loose the ability to walk any more and she was swelling up. I now have a 5 yr old yorkie Minnie by name. She is the love of my life and a great companion. I have rescued her from what I call a puppy mill and she was scared of men and very jumpy with loud noises. Today she is a loveable little dog and when we go to the boardwalk she is the boardwalk socializer and greets everyone and loves the children. She no longer drops down to the ground when a man goes to pat her head and she will even jump on a man's lap if he is sitting on a bench on the boardwalk. It is amazing how much joy a dog can bring to your life when they give love and expect nothing but food and love and a home to live in. I am thankful that I was able to get Minnie.

I am a true dog lover! I have two Bouvier des Flanders right now. One is fawn colored and the other is brindle. They are very protective and are chow hounds. My favorite dog was Madeline, a labradoodle. I rescued her from a marketplace. She was only 4 weeks old and her mother had just been killed by a car. I had to bottle feed her and hand feed her little bits of puppy food. She was my bud! She followed me everywhere and slept with me. She loved everyone, especially kids. At age thirteen she contracted stomach cancer and had to be put to sleep. That was eight years ago and I still miss her so much. As I write this my eyes are tearing up.

I love all animals but especially dogs. I have 3 Pembroke Welsh Corgis and one Cairn Terrier/Jack Russell cross. They are my family now, since my real children are married and have started their own families.

I am not working right now so I never have to leave them alone. They go everywhere with me. You couldn't ask for better friends. They are alot of fun to be around.

I have 32 dogs, two scotch terriers and a mixed breed from the North of Ireland. They get me up and out every morning and have many friends they meet on their walks. I dont know what I would do without them. They organize my day, I dont really need a clock!!!

There are two dogs here, one is a Bechon Shiz Tzu (Buddy) and to clever for anyone, however I manage to stay one step ahead of him.
The other one is an American Cocker Spaniel~ Black, he is still learning and depends on Buddy for a lot of things, but stay close to me where ever I go. If I go out and leave him behind for a few hours, he is so happy to see me, and so is Buddy, Bear whimper in excitement when I get home and has to have a toy in his mouth as well.

32 dogs??? Do you own a Kennel? I know what you mean by clock works, my dogs are the same here, also I can tell if there is a change in weather too.
