The place for 'daily hellos' and everything else you want to talk about...

Being careful not to give away any personal information, of course, how did you decide on the user name you use here (or even a different one you use elsewhere)?

Mine was a tongue-in-cheek result of my ex-husband's kidding. I'm a children's entertainer, so , when I was trying to choose a good clown name (one that was short, easy to say and remember by both kids and their parents), I came up with LULU. In my show I often say "I am a real LuLu, just ask my neighbors, they'll tell you!" In reality, I'm a bit eccentric, perhaps, but that's about it. The 11 and the 07 was the age my children were when I decided on using this user name.

This club is my first venture into making friends online so I didnt realise you had to choose a user name so I used my own name!
I suppose I've always been very open so I didnt feel the need for a disguise!

Actually, Graham, it is often recommended (especially for women) that people make it difficult for a potential scammer to identify him/her by not putting their name in their user name. User names often have nothing to do with how open a person is. I consider the well accepted practice of using a user name to be a great first step. After a few e-mails back and forth, I'd like to believe that most people would "take off the dark glasses and mustache".

Yes, Lulu, I completely agree with you so please dont take my last comments as a criticism because this was not my feeling. I was just a little naive when I first ventured into the online contact world! Since then I have seen that some men prey on women and I fully understand that you must be very careful with anyone until a trust has been established. Also, I notice that you are very pretty so you must be more careful than most!

This is my first experience with online friendship too and I'm still learning its Do's and Dont's (a few more of the Dont's actually...). Like Graham I used my real name and feel OK with that. What I'm wondering about is the disclosure of other personal aspects of our lives - like posting a picture of our family for one. I noticed you didn't Lulu, although you mention your children dearly more than once. I edited my Gallery a few times today, uploading and deleting my daughter's picture, and still don't feel 100% comfortable. Tips on the thin grey lines of virtuality are welcome.

When my kids were little and said 'wow', I told them that it meant Mom only upside down. I've just take it a step further.

Referring to Denise's point about whether to put family photos in her gallery, it is obviously her choice but I did not have too many concerns about putting my children's photos there; partly because theyre grown up and put their photos on Facebook all the time. Also, as long as I am very careful not to give out any personal information, address or e-mail details, the photos will remain just photos and have no other details linked to them. I think it could be a bigger potential risk if the children are young as certain people get their perverted pleasure from downloading photos of children and none of us parents would like to think of our children being viewed in this way.

WOW  - speaking of being naive... hadn't thought of it this way . I finally made up my mind to included them because joining the Club was a legitimate decision to open up for new friendships and connections and I can' t think of a better way to do that.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! My luck that they are both grown-ups...!

I like to see where people live so I use the postal code on Google earth. But if you state you are single and work and have a picture you could possibly be open to crooks. By boxing in your postal code you can get a fair idea where some one lives and then it would just be a matter of following them. Seems like a lot of trouble to find out if a house is empty but the simple thing if you want to be on the safe side is change the code to the other side of the city. If your just for friendship then it doesn't even have to be the same city. The code is only for matches and I find some times it is so far out. Like mine has me 700 miles away.

I chose my user name because I have always been a free spirit....the 09 was last year when I first started to use it.

I am all over the internet so anyone could find out my real name and what ever they may want to know. I am a very open person who will tell you most anything about me.
I believe thangels protect me because they have in so many ways for so many years. My website is www.gracelobermier.com I would like for anyone who is interested to take a look. I will be posting about my free seminar which will be held either the last of March or in April, 2010. Would love to have all of you to attend and invite your friends. I also have a page on my webite for you to write your story and a guest book to sign. Please feel free to do that.
I will also be having a spot on Blogtalkradio.com real soon. It will be an interaction hour tht we can talk about our experiences. I love to hear the stories from everyone about their experiences with either or both, the angels and spirits. I am all about the angels, spirits and their contacts with us here on earth..
As for me, I have a lovely family, 7 cats, and lots of friends. I believe there is good in everyone. I do have a lot of pics of the family on FB. I wish all of you love and peace this day and forever after. Grace

:) my aka means several things, depending on how you use it in a sentence. it could mean--- let things go, no holding onto it,--- forget it and move forward,--- just leave it be--- :)
