Of course we cats are intelligent! We are also great thinkers and like to contemplate the meanning of life (sleep, food, cuddles) on a regular basis. Of course, some humans don't really apreciate our superiority and refer to us with such silly names like Tiddles or Puss-Puss,(no offence, but when your real name is Alexandria or Constantine, to name just a few friends, it's a bit degrading to be called Tiddy, isn't it?
We've nothing against dogs, generally and in fact feel a bit sorry for them - I mean, fancy not being trusted to go for your own walk and having to be tied to a lead! But honestly, just who do they think they are with all that barking and "I'm a big scary dog, so run, cat" act? As I've said to my friends many times, just stare then give out a right hook if they dont get the message!
I'm very fond of my humans, even though it took about a year to get them fully trained, but now they come runnning when I cry or want a fresh blanket to lie on.It's not that I'm spoiled but my "mum" DOES" tell me I'm the most beautiful cat in the world" -which I know, but it's nice to have it reaffirmed.
Glad to hear there are lots of you humans out there whoappreciate the feline things in life.
feel free to continue to appreciate us and we'll lap it up (ouch, terible pun by my human!!).
Bye for now,

I love cats too Caroline! :D My little cat would gently wake me in the morning by pawing my eyes softly, she slept on the end of my bed, but if I had a headache she would nuzzel up to my face.My X hated the attention she got.
Cats have a way of talking to you and also understand far more then given credit for. I dreamt about her last night...and woke up with my pillow wet with tears. I do miss her so so much. x

I agree Bluelight, cats know when you are unhappy. When my partner left me, she would snuggle up by me all the time and try to comfort me. Like you, he (x) never really liked her.he was jealous -probably knew she loved me more than he did!!
Just had a lovely cuddle with lots of purring when I got in. They're always glad to see you .

All I know is that they fill a huge void in ones life, particularly when one lives alone.
Not that I am lonely at all. But I would miss my Flynn, if he wasn't around. He is a great pal, and I love him to bits.

Delighted to read all the views on cats! Only one feline "owns" me and my cast-iron entrance sign reads----A cat and its staff live here! So different from owning my dog! :D

don't think any one would believe the story about my cat.I went to Barbados with my mum a few years ago, leaving my cat an dog at home with my grown up daughters.I was given the kitten by a friend, who didn't want it she wasn't a animal lover at all.she knew I wouldn't say no.I loved the cat to bits had her nine years.any way going into the second week of the holiday am in bed an was woken up early hours by the sound of a cat crying, like they do when they want to come in.I jumped out of bed an looked over the balcony, but couldn't see no cat so I went to the front,my mum is up by then asking what are you doing I said I can hear my cat. she looked at me as if I was nuts an said how can you hear you cat,its at home its some other cat.I told her I know my own cats cry I heard her. you must have dreamed it she says.looked all over ,no cat to be found.my dad picks us up from the airport,on the way home I ask him is the dog an cat ok, he tells me the fine, so half an hour latter I ask are you sure.he didn't answer me so I said my cat dead isn't she, he told me she had to be put to sleep she had been hit by a car,an didn't want to tell me till we got home.I asked him when did it happen he told a week ago.my mum looked at me all I could say was I told you I heard her.(I think she came to say goodbye) . this is the truth.

I wish that I could live in a manner in which I could have at least 2 of every cat species there is on this planet. From house cats to Servals and all in between. I've had more than 50 at a time, all with names, nicknames and 'tribal names'. Sometimes when I traveled overseas, some went with me back and forth, in the cabin and the stewardess usually found milk or cream for them. Once when I lived in southern Maryland with over 50, 15 were 'house trained' and it was a riot as they chased each other or chased balls or corks down three flights of stairs from the attic to the living room. A few were 'retrievers' and brought the item back to me so as I would throw it again...ever hear a real stampede...
Presently I have two. One reminds me of a miniature buffalo...the other a cross between a racoons and a cat; a 'catoon' as it were...she is a talker; talks to me all day...chirping and warbling comments on everything...(and no, not because she is hungry). The more I imitate her sounds, the more she talks...On the streets if I meet another, I make the same sounds to them; 7 out of ten, they actually start towards me and talk away , purr and roll on the ground, as if they are saying "Oou, I found a friend; a human who understands me!" Cats are a scream; hilarious and a delight...I never want to live without them!

I am a pet person.....I love dogs AND cats and usually have BOTH, at the same time.

I currently have 3 large dogs and 3 cats (a balanced household) and by next weekend I will have an additional kitten. All the cats are sisters.....different litters.

I can not live my life without animals in my house, and in my life. Just the way I am.

Morton1, I am so sorry to hear about your cat, passing away while you were on vaction, with your Mom. I too, had a similiar situation.

To start, I have to let you know a little about Kelsie..."my kitty girl". I had just had my third miscarriage, in a row, and gotten more devastating news. On the way home, my ex (now), had to stop to check on an emergency job...and found out that the couple, had taken the last two surviving kittens, from a litter, and placed them tightly behind an armoire. He took out both, thinking to bring them home with us. While he tended to the water-logged, fallen bathroom ceiling...one of the kittens was put outside, by the owners. He was cute, so I am sure he got a home/hope it was a good one!

When my ex came back, he pulled this little ball of fur...a beautiful calico kitty, from his pocket, and handed her to me, and told me that she would mend my broken heart. I loved her immediately...and, yes, she spoke to me, and she did mend my heart. She never left me side...she touched me like no other animal ever has.

Skip forward four years...one son born,...two more miscarriages....and in the hospital, having another son. My newest son had to stay in the incibator, as he had a hole in his heart...but he was monitored well, and he was in my room. On his second night of his life...I was breastfeeding him, late into the night...and felt a tap on my left shoulder. I looked...no one there. Shortly afterwards...I felt it again...I stood up and looked all through the room...nothing. I thought of Kelsie, and how she always slept on the left of me...curled in a ball...and snuggled up to this baby in particular. It gave me peace, despite my son's heart condition...and when I went to sleep, I slept soundly.

Imagine everyone's complete surprise, the next morning, when the Cardiologist came in to check my son and found that he was completely healed...no hole...no murmur...perfect!! I was thrilled...yet...I
knew that something had happened to Kelsie...My ex came in later and told me that she had gotten out the back door, and was hit by a vehicle, during the night. It was sudden...no suffering!

I was devastated for the loss of my kitty girl Kels...and thrilled for my son's healing (which has never been able to be explained). We never know when an angel is in our lives...but for me...our angel was Kelsie. She was given to me, to mend my broken heart...and ended up saving our baby by mending his heart. She was the most special of all the animals I ever had the privledge to know...(cats, dogs, ferrets, fish)...and I truely believe that she was sent from God to watchover, and heal...which is what she did. I still miss her 14 years later...even though we do have two beautiful, personable, chatting, funny, and sooooo lovable cats now.

Thanks for reading my story.
